If there is a Chinese Indonesian wedding in Tangerang, there must be Gado-gado being served, they call it Gado-gado Penganten. "Penganten" means bride and groom :). The different between this one and regular one is that Gado-gado Penganten consists raw and simple vegetables and the regular one consists boiled and many different vegetables. The same thing between both of them is that both are so de.. licious! Right now i'd like to share Gado-gado Penganten recipe, it is much more simple than the other one.

Recipe:
2 hard boiled eggs
1 boiled potato
2 cabbage leaves
2 cup green salad
1/4 cup cucumber
Peanut dressing recipe:
1 cup water
1.5 tbsp sugar
1-2 tsp white vinegar
2 tbsp fried onion/shallot
1 tsp chili paste (homemade)

Homemade Mie Ayam
Mie Ayam is very popular in Indonesia, actually it is noodle soup with chicken topping. Usually the noodle is served separately with the soup so the customers can adjust how much soup they want to be added to their noodle.
I've heard someone said if you want to make a good noodle, use duck egg instead of chicken egg, it gives you better texture. Since i didn't find duck egg here, i couldn't prove what he said. Anyway this noodle recipe is quiet good, i think it is similar with pasta dough (more or less).
The chicken topping in this recipe is more like chinese style chicken, i got the recipe from my uncle who runned a small noodle restaurant few years ago.
Noodle Recipe:
300 gr flour
2 eggs
water 4 tbs
1/2 tsp salt
Tip:
-if you want the noodle to be more elastic, add 1 egg white instead of water.
-sprinkle with corn starch before cut the noodle if you don't cook it right away, so the noodle wont become sticky
Soup Recipe:
1.5 liter water
1/4 part of chicken
2 spring onion
2 garlic
1/2 tsp sesame oil
1.2 tsp sugar
1 tsp sugar
black pepper
1/2 block instant chicken soup
Chicken Topping Recipe:
2 chicken breast
1/2 red onion
3 garlics
3 tbsp sweetened soya sauce (Kecap Manis)
1 tbsp soya sauce
1 tsp salt
1.5 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp tsp sesame oil
black pepper
2 tbsp cooking oil
1/2 cup water
Chili Topping Recipe:
2 tsp chili paste (homemade)
1 tsp white vinegar

Risol Bihun - Indonesian Style Springrolls
Risol bihun goes really good with chili sauce. It was one of my fav snack after school, it's so delicious and very cheap :). Surprisingly it goes also really good with peanut sauce.
Try this recipe, it might also become one of your fav snack.
Tip: you can freeze uncooked risol bihun and when you need it, just deep frost and then fry.

1 carrot
1 tbsp cooking oil
3 tbsp water
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar
black pepper
1/3 tsp garlic powder
100 gr dried vermicelli noodle

Peanut butter sauce:
1.5 tbsp peanut butter
1/4 cup water
1 tsp chili paste
1/8 tsp salt
3/4 -1 tbsp sugar
1/2 tbsp rice vinegar

In Austria Gulasch is served with Semmelknödel, pasta (normally fussili), or potato.
There is another famous kind of Gulasch called Erdäpfelgulasch made from potato and sausage in stead of beef. Next time i will share the recipe, but for now i want to share the traditional one.

In Indonesia people eat rice rather than bread, they have it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Only few who eat bread for breakfast.
I like to eat bread but not everyday :). Here i'd like to share one of my recipe, it is a German style bread which contains some spices. It is tastier than ordinary white bread, and taste even better if you add walnuts. Try it and you will fall in love with it.

Apfelkompott
Today is Valentine's Day 2012, wanted to have something to spoil my tongue but then i realize i have eaten lot of foods during the weekend. When i opened refrigerator Apfelkompott in a container caught my eyes then i thought this is gonna be our Valentine dessert beside the Valentine Marzipan Cookies.
Happy Valentine!!
Recipe:
7 apples
3 cloves
1 stick of cinnamon
1/4 cup sugar (more or less, depend on your taste)
1 lemon juice (my secret ingredient)
1 cup water
1 liter water
Add 1 liter of water and lemon juice in a big bowl
Peal and cut into chunks all the apples then soak in the lemon water for 10 mins. After 10 mins drain the water.
Add 1 cup clean water in a pot, add cloves and cinnamon then cook about 5 mins.
Add apples and sugar then cook until the apples are softened, adjust the sugar according to your taste.
Let it cool then remove the cloves and cinnamon
Chill in the refrigerator before serve
